| Front door into classroom with
filing cabinet and storage closet. |
 |
| Inside the front
door we have small mail cubbies, my filing cabinet (for attendance
check-in and lunch choice), and our NCES All-Star board. |
 |
| This is my 'teacher station'. I
keep all needed materials in the large open file box and my lesson plan
book stays on the counter. |

station. |
 |
| This is our meeting rug where we
do most of our whole group lessons. I use the easel all the time! |
 |
| Close-up of my Picture Book
Shelf. The books on top are my special teacher books and the bottom two
sections are for 'check-out'. I bought the shelf when our local shopette
(in Alaska) was renovating. Best $50 I have ever spent!! |
 |
| My Word-Wall is magnetic so
children can take a word off and use it. It will grow as the year
progresses. The chart to the left is our rotation chart for Reading /
Writing Workshop. |
 |
| Our Home Living area is in a
nice, bright spot of the classroom. |
 |
| We have several reading spots in the
classroom. This area has tubs with different authors and genres. We also keep our book tubs here. Children are
allowed to select 3-5 new books everyday. I model how to change out
books at the beginning of the year. |
 |
| This is our 'Information
Station'. We keep thematic materials as well as nonfiction readers in
this corner. |

Workshop materials. We also have a listening center in this area.
|
 |
| We use the meeting area to do
weather and calendar updates. I also use the Royal Reading / Writing
Easel in this area. |
